Viral recovery from lungs of infected mice after cell transfer. Madin-Darby canine kidney cell monolayers, at 90% confluency, were inoculated with 100 μl of 10-fold dilutions of lung homogenates from animals at days 3, 5, and 6 after infection/cell transfer. Plaque assays were incubated for 4 days at 35°C and then counted. The results are the means ±SD of triplicate wells for each dilution of five mice per group at each time point in one experiment. The limit of detection was 20 virus particles per lung.
