Increased liver mass in mice lacking plasminogen activators after CCl₄. Expression of liver weight as a percentage of body weight shows an increase in liver mass in all mice 2 days after CCl₄, followed by a gradual decrease in control and tPA^o littermates between 7 to 14 days. In contrast, this decrease is not observed in mice lacking uPA or both tPA/uPA, which display a greater liver mass at 14 days (mean ± SD; P < 0.01 for uPA^o and tPA^o/uPA^o versus tPA^o and tPA⁺/uPA⁺ at 14 days; control = tPA⁺/uPA⁺).
