Sponge Invasion and Encapsulation

Sponges were implanted subcutaneously in mice. After a 3-week implantation period, the implants were explanted, and the degree of dense tissue invasion and sponge encapsulation were determined with the aid of a microscope micrometer. Values shown represent the means of 60 measurements ± 1 SD. A total of six sponges per genotype were evaluated.
