| DCYTB | 1.05 | 1.84 | 1.7 | 2.25* |
| TfR1 | 1.30 | 0.40 | 0.50 | 2.08* |
| DMT1 | 1.20 | 0.80 | 1.45 | 2.10* |
| FPN | 1.36 | 1.64 | 2.55* | 2.10* |

| Ferritin | 0.68 | 0.20* | 0.40* | 0.80 |
Paraffin sections of normal colon (NC) (n = 20), low grade dysplastic adenomas (LGD) (n = 20), high grade dysplastic adenoma (HGD) (n = 20), and colorectal carcinoma (CRC) (n = 20) were all subject to immunohistochemistry with antibodies to duodenal cytochrome b (DCYTB), transferrin receptor 1 (TfR1), divalent metal transporter 1 (DMT1), ferroportin (FPN), hephaestin (HEPH), and ferritin.
Staining intensity was graded as 0 (no expression), 1 (weak), 2 (moderate), or 3 (strong) expression.
The mean of each group is presented and numbers in bold denote a value that is significantly different when compared with NC (*p<0.05).
