Resistance is significantly lower at 1 h (*p  =  0.02, unpaired t test) and peak inspiratory pressure significantly lower at 1 and 3 h (*p  =  0.002 and **p  =  0.001 by unpaired t test) in the remote preconditioning group than in controls.
