FIGURE 3

Transduction channel has four states. From the resting closed state the channel opens (C→O) when the tension in the TLA exceeds the channel opening tension (F > F0). The opened channel is closed by fast adaptation (O→O·Ca →C·Ca). However, if the tension exceeds a critical value (F > Fcrit) the open channel stays open despite calcium binding (O→O·Ca). The Ca2+-bound closed channel becomes an unbound closed channel as the Ca2+ diffuses (C·Ca→C). In this study, the slow adaptation is not simulated.
