All other LD50s were calculated (see Materials and Methods) from experiments where mice were inoculated with five different cell densities (104 to 108 cells/ml). Note that the other two LD50s obtained from Fig. 4 (2 × 106 for both SN152 after 3 days and KWN2 after 7 days) agree very well with the values from the five inoculum-level experiments. —, not done.
