Hyaluronidase treatment of mesothelial cells. Mesothelial cells were grown to confluency in 96-well microtiter plates and treated with various concentrations of bovine testicular hyaluronidase. Cells were washed and either not fixed (▪) or fixed (□) with 2% formaldehyde for 15 minutes at room temperature and then washed again as described in Materials and Methods. Radiolabeled NIH:OVCAR5 cells were added to each well and incubated at 37°C for 20 minutes. The unbound NIH:OVCAR5 cells were washed two times, and relative cell adhesion was assessed by measuring the amount of radioactivity. Data are expressed as mean ± SD. * P < 0.001 compared with 0 U/ml hyaluronidase.
