Nanocurcumin inhibits the growth of pancreatic cancer cell lines. Cell viability (MTT) assays were performed using equivalent dosages of free curcumin and nanocurcumin in a panel of human pancreatic cancer cell lines. The assay was terminated at 72 hours, and colorimetric determination of cell viability performed. Four of six cell lines demonstrate response to nanocurcumin (defined as an IC50 in the 10–15 μM range) – BxPC3, ASPC-1, PL-11 and XPA-1, while two lines are curcumin-resistant – PL-18 and PK-9. All assays were performed in triplicate, and the mean ± standard deviations are presented.
