Wild-type FVB mice (A and C) and Tg(HQK) mice (B, D, and F) were treated with 6 g of Dox per kg of food for 200 days (A and B), 30 days (C and D), or 14 days (F). The skeletal muscles (quadriceps) from the hind legs were cryosectioned and subjected to H&E staining (A and B) or acid phosphatase staining (C and D) with standard procedures. Similar muscle tissues from a PrP-null mouse (E) or a Tg(HQK) mouse (F) were fixed, embedded, sectioned, and stained with 3F4.
