Mice were infected with K. pneumoniae and euthanized at the indicated times postinfection as described in Materials and Methods. Heparinized blood was obtained via cardiac puncture and centrifuged, and plasma was stored at −70°C until cytokine analysis. Data were obtained from two to three independent experiments with the total numbers of mice per group given in the table.
