TNF-induced tumor necrosis independent of the TNFR on tumor cells. C57BL/6 wt mice bearing wt BFS-1 (○, •) or p55−/−BFS-1 (□, ▪) tumors were treated with rmTNF (5 μg in 100 μl PBS, n = 13, •, ▪) or PBS (100 μl, n = 8, ○, □) i.p., and tumor necrosis was determined 2 days after treatment.
