Relative initial rate kinase activities toward their selective
substrates of each of the six kinases—i.e., ERK1/2, JNK, GSK-3b,
Cdk5, PKA, and CaMKII in control (non-heat-shocked) and at 0–12 h
after heat shock are compared after normalization to their respective
control (100). Note: (i) the decreased activity of all
kinases at 0 h after heat shock except GSK-3β, which was
increased, and Cdk5, which was unchanged; and (ii) the
increased activity of JNK, GSK-3β, Cdk5, and ERK1/2 at 3 and 6
h after heat shock.
