Figure 5A — Histochemical staining of sulfated proteoglycans with safranin O of the Swarm rat chondrosarcoma tumor expressing a human PSACH-linked mutant COMP (panel A), grown subcutaneously in rat for 59 days. Less proteoglycans are incorporated into the extracellular matrix of the chondrosarcoma containing the mutant COMP transgene, suggesting expression of the mutant COMP is altering deposition of aggrecan in the extracellular matrix as similarly seen in PSACH.
