Néel relaxation. A mylar substrate with liposomes containing the FLAG epitope generates a large relaxation signal (trace A) in the presence of anti-FLAG labeled nanoparticles. Liposomes with no FLAG (trace B), and nanoparticles alone (trace C) generate very little response. A small exponential background decay (trace D) caused by eddy currents in the microscope is present when there is no sample. (Inset) An expanded view of the lower three traces.
