Figure 4

Clinical chemistry changes in protein expression after acute exposure to acetaminophen in male, F344 rats at 24, 72 and 120 hr. Fasted rats were exposed to 0 and 1500 mg/kg of acetaminophen by oral gavage. Male, F344 rats were treated with vehicle (0.25% CMC) or 1500 mg/kg acetaminophen by oral gavage and sacrificed after 24, 72 and 120 hr. Values represent the mean ± S.E.M. at n=4/group for serum clinical chemistries performed according to Methods. Abbreviations are ALT (alanine aminotransferase); AST (aspartate aminotransferase); ALP (alkaline phosphatase); Total or Direct Bil (Bilirubin); TBA (total bile acids); Units are IU/L (International Units) for ALT, AST and ALP; μMol/L for TBA; mg/dL for total and direct bilirubin. An asterisk (*) indicates statistical difference from time-matched control at p<0.05 by ANOVA and post-hoc test.
