Modifications to the tRNAAla gene sequence. The base pair G26⋅A44 was converted to the Watson–Crick pair G26⋅C44. T8 and G10 were deleted. Nucleotide 25 was encoded by a mixture of A and C. Positions 13–15 and 21–22 of the D-domain as well as positions 46–48 of the variable loop were randomized, and the anticodon TGC was replaced by CTA.
