Effect of cytokines on the secretion of C3 and C7 by human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC). The cells at confluence were incubated with IL-1α (10 U/ml), tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) (100 ng/ml), IFN-γ (100 U/ml) or control medium for 4 days and the concentration of C3 and C7 in the supernatant was measured by ELISA.
