Decreased soluble CD163 production from monocyte/macrophage treated with TIMP-3. Monocytes/macrophages pretreated with glucocorticoid were treated with buffer, TIMP-1, TIMP-2 and TIMP-3 at the indicated concentration and were then activated with PMA to induce shedding of CD163. Levels of soluble CD163 in these cultures supernatants were measured by an ELISA as described in Materials and methods.
