Screening of 200 peptidomimetic compounds from a library. Measurements were make in duplicate from 384-well plates in which each well contained 30 μl of 18.6 μM [Fe(II)(env2.0)3]2+, 5 μM probe, and 12 to 50 μM compound. The solutions contained 4% DMSO. Also shown are data for a positive control (C18-Aib), a negative control (C16-Scr), and 100% fluorescence (C18-Aib-LY, dashed lines). The screen was conducted on an Analyst HT plate reader. Signals above 100% correspond to those for compounds 12{7,6,4} and 12 {7,6,5} (38) and, along with the signals for many of the compounds, were false positives. True-positive signals were detected following the control experiment, whose results are demonstrated in Fig. 6.
