Competence genes expression determined by qRT-PCR. Relative levels of mRNA of selected competence genes before (time zero) and 8 min and 13 min after the addition of CSP to wild-type (open columns) and stkP mutant bacteria (gray columns). mRNA levels in both wild-type and mutant are expressed relative to uninduced wild-type levels.
