Each reaction mixture contained 1 mM UDP-α-D-GlcNAc3NAcA (I) and 0.17 mM NADP⁺ and was incubated at 37 °C for 1.5 h. (a) Control reaction with no enzyme. (b) Reaction with 0.05 mg/ml of purified His₆–WlbD. (c) Reaction with 0.05 mg/ml of purified His₆–WbpI. Both His₆–WbpI and His₆–WlbD reactions yielded a novel peak (II).
