Typical fiber length (A) and force (B) changes when the preparation was first made to contract isometrically or to shorten against various Cauxo for 1 s, and then subjected to quick decreases in fiber length to reduce the force to zero to contract isometrically at the decreased fiber length. Length records a, b, c, d, and e correspond to force records a′, b′, c′, d′, and e′, respectively. The value of Cauxo was zero (= isometric condition, records b–b′), 6.5 (records c–c′), 14.6 (records d–d′) and 43.0% L0/P0 (= practically unloaded condition, ee′), respectively.
