IFN-γ and IL-4 production of CD3/CD28 costimulated naive CD4+ T cells from rheumatoid arthritis patients (n = 9) differentiated during (a) 5-day cultures or (b) 10-day cultures in the presence of IL-7, of IL-4, or of IL-7 and IL-4. Cytokine production of differentiated cells was analyzed upon ionomycin/phorbol myristate acetate restimulation for 24 hours. *P < 0.05 **P < 0.01, statistically significant differences versus control cultures in the absence of added cytokines (con).
