Growth requirements of the hal4 hal5 mutant. (A) The indicated strains were grown to saturation in potassium-supplemented minimal medium, and serial dilutions were spotted onto plates containing minimal medium supplemented with 0.1 M KCl and either 300 μg/ml (excess) or 1.2 μg/ml (limiting) of uracil. Growth was recorded after 48 to 72 h. WT, wild type.
