Detergent-solubilized soybean root membrane proteins (290 μg) or E. coli crude extracts (496 μg) were incubated with the indicated concentrations of labeled elicitor. (B) Purification of the GEBP. Lanes: 1, Mono Q fraction 9 μg; 2, after passage through a maltose-binding gel, 8 μg; 3, purified protein fraction, 0.05 μg, after dilution in loading buffer and placement in a boiling water bath for 3 min. The proteins were silver-stained.
