Values are the β-galactosidase activities normalized to the wild-type strains (rpoB+ fis+) for each promoter fusion. Numbers are the average of two independent determinations as described in Materials and Methods. Each determination was performed with minimum of two repetitions. The values of the two determinations were in close agreement.
