Inhibition of p38 MAPK activity has no effect on UV-induced apoptosis. Parental U937 cells were pretreated with the p38 MAPK inhibitor SB203580 (10 μM) for 1 h before exposure to UV radiation (200 J/m2) as indicated. (A) Caspase-3 activity and (B) DNA fragmentation were analyzed 8 h postirradiation as described (33).
