Total lipids extracted from dry seeds were resolved by normal-phase HPLC, and the quantities of individual tocopherols were determined relative to standards. Values are expressed as the average of quadruplicate analyses ± sd (in pmol/mg dry weight). Student's t test was performed relative to the control, and statistically significant differences are indicated by single (P ≤ 0.01) and double (P ≤ 0.001) asterisks. Numbers in parentheses indicate the percentage of individual tocopherols in the total pool.
