Sequences of T region genes match either the left half or right half of the bm28 mutation cluster, but no single gene in the T region matches the entire mutation. We hybridized the BamHI-digested cosmids representing the H-2^b T region genes with oligonucleotide probes that were specific for the left (D^bm28-97/99–1) or right (D^bm28-103) half of the mutation cluster. T12 contains nucleotides that are homologous to the left half of the mutation cluster (Left), and T5 has the right half of the mutation cluster (Right).
