In each gel image, the two outside lanes contain duplex control RNA molecules, with lengths of 188 bp and 200 bp as indicated; the remaining seven lanes contain heteroduplex molecules with n phasing base pairs (Fig. 2; n = 0 to 12). Electrophoresis was performed on nondenaturing 6% polyacrylamide gels (acrylamide/N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide ratio, 29:1) at room temperature; gel buffer was 10 mM sodium phosphate, pH 7.2/2 mM MgCl2 (A) or 10 mM sodium phosphate, pH 7.2/0.125 mM Na2EDTA (B).
