High-resolution XPS C1s spectra. There is no major difference between the bare and the aminated samples. The PEG samples show a second peak near 286.5 eV that is indicative of the ether carbon bonds from the PEG backbone. The high binding energy shoulder in the spectrum from the pegylated surface is due to the carbonyl groups in the cross-linker.
