The natural enzyme is induced by growth of P. maltophilia in the presence of 10 g/L of sarcosine and does not contain adduct, as judged the fact that its spectral properties are not affected by H₂O₂ [8].

The recombinant enzyme was produced using pGZ25 as the expression vector.
