Striking differences between the inhibitor specificities of the two types of QR. (Upper) hQR2. (Lower) rQR1. Activity was measured with 30 μM menadione/80 μM N-methyldihydronicotinamide in 50 mM Tris·HCl buffer (pH 8.5) in the presence of 1% ethanol. Benzo(a)pyrene is a potent inhibitor of hQR2, consistent with the results with rQR2 and bQR2 (14), whereas QR1 is known to be very sensitive to inhibition by dicumarol and Cibacron blue (22, 24).
