Real-time monitoring of the effects of antibiotics on S. aureus Xen 29 biofilm infection in mice. Seven days after implantation of precolonized catheters with 104 CFU of S. aureus, the mice were treated or not treated with antibiotics (twice a day for 4 consecutive days) and were imaged periodically over a 4-week period by using an IVIS camera. A representative animal from the group receiving the highest dose of antibiotic or the untreated control group is shown.
