(A) Temporary end-to-side shunt between the right branch of the portal vein and the inferior vena cava is completed before resection of the recipient's liver. (B) The recipient's left portal vein to graft left portal vein anastomosis is made in an end-to-end manner. Shunt flow is maintained during the anastomosis. (C) Immediately after graft reperfusion, the right portal vein is ligated and divided. The stump of the shunt on the inferior vena cava is closed with a running suture.
