Effect of the SOD-mimic MnTMPyP on luminescence. Cells grown overnight in LB were diluted 100-fold into fresh, aerated minimal salts plus 0.2% casamino acids/3 μg/ml thiamine/3 μg/ml pantothenic acid/0.2% glucose. At intervals, 0.78-ml aliquots were taken and mixed with 20 μl of 2 mM Luc⁺⁺, and the luminescence of four consecutive 10-sec integration times separated by 5-sec delay times were averaged.
