Molecular location of dengue NS3 pan-serotype conserved sequences (148GLYGNGVVT156 and 189LTIMDLHPG197) on the protein’s 3-D structure. A) A major portion of 148GLYGNGVVT156 conserved sequence (in red) is localized in the buried regions of the 3-D structure. B) Most of the 189LTIMDLHPG197 conserved sequence (in red) is localized in the exposed region of the 3-D structure. This suggests that the conserved sequence 148GLYGNGVVT156 is less likely to mutate compared to 189LTIMDLHPG197, though both share identical level of intra-serotype percentage representation.
