Hippocampal neurons were incubated for 5 min with 100 ng/ml FGF-2 or 20 ng/ml BDNF before fixation and permeabilization. Activation of Akt was analyzed by immunostaining with antibody to phospho-Akt (p-Akt). The nuclear dye DAPI was used to visualize all nuclei. A) Magnification was 20x.
