(A–D) Cells with conditional defects in PIP biosynthesis and an isogenic wild-type strain were grown in yeast extract/peptone/dextrose medium at 25°C and then shifted to 37°C for 1 h. 3.0 μM ¹⁴C-cholesterol was added to the medium and the amount of free and esterified ¹⁴C-cholesterol determined.
