Effect of neuropeptide Y (NPY) on the PSPs alone and in combination with the selective A₁R agonist N⁶-cyclopentyladenosine (CPA) after preincubation with the selective A₁R antagonist 1,3-dipropyl-8-cyclopentylxantine (DPCPX) (Sichardt et al., unpublished results). The experimental procedure was similar to that shown in Fig. 1. In the presence of NPY, PSPs were decreased by 35.4 ± 7%. Combined superfusion of NPY and CPA after preincubation with DPCPX decreased PSPs by 32.7 ± 8%. The depression was reversible during washout.
