Comparison of zymograms from cell lysates made before and after digestion from collagen lattices with clostridial collagenase. Twenty four-hour lattice cultures were extracted either with Triton X-100 lysis buffer or a hypotonic buffer containing proteinase inhibitors. Identical lattices were digested with bacterial collagenase, and the washed cell pellets were extracted with either buffer. Bands above the 72-kDa gelatinase A result from residual clostridial collagenase.
