Concentration normalized as a percentage of the infused value (mean ± s.e.m.) is plotted as a function of anatomical location following filtration (In, infusion line; Cav, joint cavity; Sub, subsynovial fluid). The infusate contained 20 kDa fluorescein dextran and 2230 kDa hyaluronan (0.2 mg ml⁻¹). One group of knees received 0.1 i.u. intra-articular chymopapain in Ringer solution before the filtration period (n = 6).
