Target microorganisms were seeded at 105 CFU/ml. Parallel tubes were seeded with one to three gels. At 24 and 48 h the CFU/ml were determined. Anaerobic C. perfringens was counted only at 48 h considering their normal growth patterns. Shown are the bacterial counts in CFU/ml. Placement of a control tube having microorganisms at 105 at 0 h gave non log growth counts at 24 and 48 h for aerobes and 48 h for anaerobes (data not shown). The composition of both gels are the same as described in earlier table.
