Note that the htau mRNA and the N-terminal protein fragment are distributed perisomatically with htau-negative dendrites (small arrows), whereas immunostaining for the C-terminal htau fragment (which contains the MT-binding region) is strong in the distal dendrites (Right, large arrow) as well, suggesting that the C terminus is specifically involved in htau transport.
