Iron limiting reconstitution and SOD activity. Apo Trx-SOD was reconstituted in air to the following iron:protein ratios: 0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 0.95. The samples were then assayed for SOD activity (○) and the optical spectra (•) of the samples (20 μl diluted to 1 ml) were recorded. Each point represents the average of three assays; the correlation coefficient of the least-squares fit is >0.99.
