Inhibition of protease B does not promote vacuole fusion. (A) Vacuoles were assayed for protease B activity or fusion in the absence of added reagents or in the presence of 7pM chymostatin, 2.5 μg/ml LMA2, a mixture of both or 125 ng/ml of LMA2 alone (Low LMA2). The data were expressed as a percentage of maximal protease B activity or fusion activity (0.42 unit). (B) Vacuoles were assayed for protease B activity in the presence of LMA1 or LMA2 that contained equivalent amounts of I₂^B. Data are presented as a percent of protease activity in the absence of added protein and are the average of two experiments.
