(B–P) Fluorescence microscopy localizing SOD2 (red) to the mitochondria (green). Control LV showed intense SOD2 labeling in cardiomyocyte mitochondria (B–D); CO increased mitochondrial staining intensity (E–G); sections of LV in DOX-treated mice after 14 days (H–J) showed scattered SOD2 labeling in mitochondria; LV of mice treated with DOX plus 1 dose of CO (K–M) and LV of mice treated with DOX plus 2 doses of CO (N–P) were improved.
