Hematoxylin and eosin–stained (HE-stained) sections of mouse vein grafts. Under anesthesia, vena cava veins of PKCδ+/+ (a and e) or PKCδ–/– (b, c, and f) mice were removed from the donor and isografted into carotid arteries of the recipient. Animals were sacrificed 8 weeks after surgery, and the grafted tissue fragments were fixed in 4% phosphate-buffered (pH 7.2) formaldehyde, embedded in paraffin, sectioned, and stained with HE.
