Effects of PPARα agonists on NO production in J774 macrophages. Cells were stimulated by LPS (10 ng ml⁻¹) and treated with increasing concentrations of GW7647 (a) or WY14643 (b). After 24 h incubation nitrite accumulated in the culture medium was measured by Griess reaction, as a marker of NO production. Results are expressed as mean±s.e.m. (n=6). ^**P<0.01 as compared to cells treated with LPS alone.
